Rare Picasso works on display in Belgrade

The works will be on display through April 15.

Curator Jelena Kanacki said that the public showing will comprise a number of rarely displayed sculptures and artistic items such as vases, mugs, plates and plaques crafted by one of the greatest artists of the 20th century while residing in the old town of Vallauris, on the French Riviera. “The exhibition’s title refers to Picasso’s life on the Azure Coast and his stay in Vallauris where he started to work with ceramics and made about 3,000 decorative and functional items,” Kanacki said. according to her, some 70 ceramic items and a dozen gold and silver artifacts will be presented in organized lectures. The project also comprises exhibition walkthroughs and workshops for children and adults, she added. “The exhibition is the product of cooperation with the Slovenian gallery Deva Puri, which staged Salvador Dali’s exhibition ‘Divine Worlds’ in 2010,” Kanacki said.
