Paint Frog

Paint Frog

To give you an idea of the process was to make a mold rubber or latex, here's a quick overview.

Part 1 – The easy part, deciding what to copy or make their bread and get it.

Part 2 – This is the longest part. It may take 5 or 6 days if you are only able to paint a couple of times a day. You conceal their origin – say it is a frog – with the probation officer. You may not always have to. Some plastics and resins do not need it. Now, the frog with the paint rubber paint. Let stand until it is almost dry – you can put your finger on the problem and not the paint adheres well to your finger. Painting again and again. Continue until what they have built a thickness of 3 / 16 "or more. You can judge this by painting a piece of wood or something wherever you apply a layer to the frog. Look at the forest to see what is the thickness of the test paint.

Part 3 – Once the paint dry for 2 or 3 days, you can start to add support for the rubber mold. If you can imagine the mold as a rubber glove, when you fill the glove with water stretches. You need to stop stretching. Above all this is done with fiberglass case or backing who is returning to molds. You may have to do in this case, 2-3-4-5 or more parts together with bolts. This is so you can take the case. If there are many cons undermines the frog then it is likely that the file has several parts. You can avoid many pieces of filler retention against the outside of the frog before starting to do the trick. This means more time to paint on the rubberized paint. This is a good thing because it cuts at least in most cases it is easy to use. When you make your case must have a base of good fat to be held the rubber mold when you stand filled with concrete. You do not want to fall into the time you reach the top!

Party 4 – Take the gum in the original. Be careful! It will be inside out. Now you can sprinkle a little talcum powder on it and turn inside. Put it in the case of fiber Indeed glass, pins or necklaces closed case, invest in if it is sitting in this large base of which he speaks. Shuffle your deck concrete and fill the mold. Let the rest of cure a couple of days. This is the test run of the mold and the housing so that you would like additional hard as cement to hold the first in the mold.

Party 5 – Busting the case and make its quality. Be careful in the rubber mold in the casting. If you are a qualified mold maker should be right first time! Otherwise, it will to look at any problems and decide what you can do to correct them.

Now you can see why the rubber or latex molds so expensive and why make a couple of weeks or more to do.

Construction time can be reduced by using fast drying silicone rubber base is a little more, but …. Gypsum can be used instead of fiberglass, if mold is not used much. This is less expensive but not as good as fiberglass.

My idea is that someone starting in the foundry business in the best way is to start with some plastic molds – no need to backup fiberglass – pay only a few and see if want to persevere. If you decide to do, while increasing your skills, start thinking about investing in a single mold latex. You may be able to find a used one in good condition. Try it and see if you want to do this kind of casting.

The results are excellent, once you have mastered the process, but this is not something cheap or easy to do as a rookie.
